Kids remember the boat. Not always the fish, but the spray, the shuttle ride off the beach, and the moment someone spots a dolphin fin. Here's how to plan a family morning on the water from the villa.
The trip that suits families
Gladiator Sportfishing, an owner-run charter in Sámara, runs a four-hour Fishing & Dolphin Watching trip. It mixes light fishing with looking for dolphins, whales in season, and a run along the beaches. The boat is private, so it's only your family on board.
Villas Dualis guests get 10% off Gladiator trips booked through our link. The booking page shows the regular rate, and the 10% comes off your final payment.
The rods are light, so children and beginners can take part, and the crew shows everyone what to do. Nobody has to fish. Some kids want to reel in everything. Some want to watch the water. Both are fine.
Wildlife is never guaranteed. Frame it for kids as "we'll see the ocean, and we'll look hard for dolphins." That way any sighting is a bonus.
Check the boarding first
There's no dock in Sámara. You wade through shallow water to a small shuttle boat, then step across to the charter boat, and both move with the swell. Everyone has to manage that step, so tell Gladiator your kids' ages and any boarding concerns before you book. If balance or mobility could be an issue for anyone, ask them first. They'll tell you straight whether it works.
Life jackets are on board in every size.
Count your seats
Children count as guests: a seat is a seat at any age. Each boat takes a set number of people, so give Gladiator your full headcount when you book. For a bigger group, Gladiator can run both boats at the same time when both are free.
Plan around four hours
There's no toilet on either boat. Use the bathroom before you leave the beach, and keep that in mind for the youngest kids. Shade is limited, so hats, long sleeves, and reef-safe sunscreen matter more than usual. Put the sunscreen on before you leave the villa.
Drinks and snacks are included, and you're welcome to bring your kids' favorite snacks too. Pack a dry bag for phones and a change of clothes.
Trips leave in the morning or the early afternoon. With young kids, we like the morning: out early, back for lunch, then the pool.
If nobody wants to fish
Pick the Dolphin Watching & Snorkel trip instead. It's three hours, no rods, with a snorkel stop when the sea allows, and the gear is on board. Tell the crew about any weak swimmers before you book. Our boat days post compares it with the other private trips.
Gladiator has more detail in their post on planning a family fishing morning. For everything else with kids in town, see our Sámara with kids guide.
